Presets and automation

A preset stores colour, effect, brightness and segments. Everything automatic builds on it.

Short answer
Pick a look, choose “Save” under presets and give it a number. At start-up WLED loads a boot preset (LED Preferences), schedules under Time & Macros recall presets by time or sun position, playlists play several presets in turn. The file with all presets can be backed up and copied to other controllers.
Step 1

Save

Set colour, effect and brightness, then “Save” under presets. Only saved presets survive a restart.

Step 2

Load at boot

Config → LED Preferences: choose a boot preset. Useful with control via a switch: power on = the desired light.

Step 3

Playlist

Play several presets one after another with a duration, e.g. for shop windows. Playlists are presets themselves and can be recalled anywhere.

Step 4

Schedule

Config → Time & Macros: set NTP and time zone, then schedules with time, weekdays and preset number. For sunrise and sunset enter latitude and longitude.

Step 5

Remote and smart home

Recall presets via remote, push button, Home Assistant or API, e.g. JSON {"ps":1} to /json/state. The remote’s button mapping is in its manual.

Step 6

Back up and copy

Config → Security & Updates: back up presets as a file and restore it on another controller. With identical segments everything looks the same right away.

Safety
Disconnect the PSU from mains before working on cables. Work on the 230 V side only by a qualified electrician.
